Broadcasting
Journalism Course
I
have acquired much knowledge and skills throughout this
two and a half months Broadcasting Journalism course ( from
14 April to 13 June 2008) organised by the Tun Razak Broadcasting
Institute ( Institut Penyiaran Tun Abdul Razak / IPTAR ).
The course covered almost every aspect of journalism from
the 'dry' topics of Journalism laws and regulations to the
interesting practical projects which involved every individual
participant to be evaluated after completing every project
within a given time and scop
Besides
the latest state of the art technical radio and television
news production, we were also introduced to web journalism
(the new media ).
One
of the course modules which I really treasured most was
the exposure to world affairs when we attended the 5th Asia
Media Summit on 25 -28 May 2008 at Nikko Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
I
feel honoured to see our names in the souvenier book listed
as delegates alongside established media icons throughout
the globe, including famous speakers, among them barristers
and media moguls throughout the world.
In
one of our course segments ( creative thinking ) we were
asked to draw a sketch about ourselves and the sketches
were passed around with us giving comments ( negative or
positive comments ). Here is a sketch of myself and the
comments written by my coursemates , how they perceived
me during that two and half months.
Obviously
my focus is on the introduction to web journalism, especially
the designing of websites. The wonders of softwares coupled
with the effective presentation of lecturers from Lim Kok
Wing University makes me become almost obsessed with updating
my website. However, as a beginner I am slowly catching
up with 'trial and error' files and pictures uploaded and
published, only to replenish them again when the links dont
work and so on.
